    Traditional hotel.

Everything was good, including accommodating staff and wonderful location in an interesting neighborhood. Well priced and neat rooms with a safe box, a microwave, and a refrigerator, exceptionally comfortable beds. Best shared bathroom. Location right by Higashiyama or the Philosopher's Path and pretty garden. Great food in the restaurants such as Hafuu Shoguin, located 10 min away.

It was nice that the dormitory room had a microwave, an electric kettle, and kitchenware. the staff was friendly, especially some of them. - the hotel's location near a supermarket and in Kyoto was great value.

The rooms at Guest House Waraku-An are just so cozy and homey! I loved the simple Japanese furnishings and the paper lamps, it gave the room a really warm and inviting atmosphere. The Japanese-style futon bedding was really comfortable, and I felt like I was truly experiencing the traditional way of sleeping. The tatami flooring added an extra touch of authenticity to the room. it was a delightful and unique experience that made me feel right at home.

Personally, I wasn't a big fan of the shared showers. It's my own subjective opinion, but I prefer having a private bathroom.

Our family had a delightful stay at this charming traditional ryokan, just a 15-minute walk to Heian Shrine and a 15-minute walk to Nanzen Temple. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the futon beds provided a unique experience for the kids. The staff was friendly and accommodating, providing us with useful recommendations for nearby bakeries and restaurants. The location was convenient, with a 10-minute walk to Jingu Marutamachi Station, allowing us to easily explore the beautiful sights of Kyoto.

For dads, it would be great if there were more family-friendly amenities, like a small play area or toys for kids.

The staff here helped me find a car service, which I still appreciate. This place suits me perfectly, with Wi-Fi, 24-hour security, a coffee shop, laundry facilities, and more. I keep coming back for my city trips. No regrets.

We had a great time at this traditional Japanese house. The staff were friendly and helpful. The environment was quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the small fridge, microwave, and kettle with free coffee and tea. The small bar was a bonus for ordering beverages.

We felt right at home and had no complaints.

We had a wonderful stay at this guest house. The staff was helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to assist us. The old house had a peaceful atmosphere, with a lovely garden. Despite being in a quieter area, it was still easy to get to places, as the hotel provided a map of local spots to try. We also appreciated the cleanliness of the hotel facilities and the convenience of having a supermarket in the interesting neighborhood.

    Couldn't stay longer.

Lovely traditional Japanese guest house with helpful English-speaking staff. Convenient location near bus and subway stops. Charming old house with cozy rooms and traditional touches. Great amenities like a heated table and tea/coffee. Highly recommended for a peaceful and authentic stay in a quieter part of town.

the staff were very welcoming and helpful, showing me good local places to eat that do vegetarian food. the guesthouse itself had lots of atmosphere, like stepping back in time. the room I stayed in was clean and the futon was incredibly comfortable. the location was convenient, with the nearest station being close by, providing good links to the main temples and geisha area.

The staff also provided a map of local spots to try, which was a lovely touch. Cons: Nothing, no complaints at all.

The property is conveniently located, just a 15-minute walk to Heian Shrine and a 15-minute walk to Nanzen Temple. Our kids loved exploring these beautiful attractions on foot, immersing themselves in the rich Japanese culture. The peaceful atmosphere of the traditional Japanese house, along with the stunning zen garden in the middle, made our stay truly special. It felt like we were living an old Japanese life ourselves! The kotatsu, which kept our legs warm while eating, added to the cozy and authentic experience.

For dads, it would be great to have a small play area for the kids.
